Winning is a regular motivator here at OwnLocal—we pride ourselves on a playful, competitive spirit and a work hard, reward hard mentality. So, naturally, we broke out the games when we hosted the Built in Brews Happy Hour at our office last night! Our 205+ guests tried their luck at the prize wheel, played giant Jenga and Connect Four, and entered into a little friendly beer pong competition. Chances to win around every corner!

In addition to games and prizes, the evening consisted of music, silly photos in the photo booth, face painting, Mediterranean cuisine, wine, margaritas, local craft beer, and sweet treats. Oh, and maybe some shots of Fireball.

Later in the evening, we heard from our CEO & Co-Founder, Lloyd Armbrust, who passionately shared about the pride he takes in keeping his employees happy—and how they create a rocking company culture in return! Senior Software Engineer Jorge Gonzalez then followed with a product demo.

The OwnLocal team would like to give a BIG thank you to all of our sponsors and guests for making this event! We couldn’t have done it without you.

For more highlights from our happy hour, check out Built In Austin’s photos or explore the interwebs with any of the following hashtags: #WorkAtOwnLocal, #BuiltInBrews, #OwnLocal, #BuiltInAustin, #PeopleOfOwnLocal.

We had a great time with you all and look forward to meeting—and hopefully interviewing!—more of Austin’s prize talent. For a complete list of job openings at OwnLocal, head to: ownlocal.com/jobs.

Stay tuned for more updates on what it’s like to #WorkAtOwnLocal. Next on the docket is our annual company retreat. Our employees are our greatest asset and we could not accomplish what we do without every single one of them. So we’re taking a few days off together to pitch tents at #CampOwnLocal and sing Kumbaya around the campfire (well, who are we kidding, we know it’ll be more along the lines of ”When A Fire Starts To Burn”...)
